01 Set up
Set up the room before anyone sits down.
Create the accounts, put students in a batch, choose the test, and open the lobby.
Students and batches
Invite students by email, group them into a batch, and include or exclude individuals before the start. There is no limit on student accounts.
Choose the test
Pick a ready-made Academic or General Training test and preview it in the candidate interface. You do not write or edit tests.
Open the lobby
Students join and wait. You see who is present before the exam starts.
Start or schedule
Start by hand when the room is ready, or set a start time. Late students can join for 15 minutes after the start.
02 Run
One room, two views.
The candidate sees the exam. You see the room.
What the candidate sees
- A short instruction video before each module.
- Module clocks and the shared three-hour cutoff, always visible.
- Listening plays once. Writing is plain text with a live word count.
- Answers autosave. A refresh or dropped connection returns to the same exam.
- They can highlight and annotate question text.
What you see
- Who is online and who has dropped off.
- Who has submitted and how far each candidate has got.
- Late arrivals during the 15-minute admission window.
- A live monitor that updates as the exam runs.
Exams run on a desktop or laptop. Phones and tablets are blocked before the exam loads.
03 Mark
Mark what needs marking.
Listening and Reading are marked on submit. Writing and Speaking are yours.

- Marked automatically when a candidate submits. You can change any mark by hand.
- Writing
- Task 1 and Task 2, graded against the IELTS criteria, with written feedback on each.
- Speaking
- You enter the criteria and feedback. It counts toward the full band.
- Overall feedback
- One note for each exam, shown on the student's report.
- Bands
- Scores convert to IELTS bands. The four skills combine into an overall band.
04 Publish
Publish when you are ready.
Module results and the combined report go out separately. A half-marked exam never reaches a candidate.

05 Edge cases
The room does not stop for a refresh.
The same rules apply to every candidate, including the ones who arrive late or lose their connection.
Late arrival
A selected student can join for 15 minutes after the start. Their module clocks start when they do, but the shared cutoff does not move.
Refresh or closed tab
Answers are saved as they type. The student returns to the same exam. The clock keeps running, so no extra time is added.
Dropped connection
The monitor shows the student offline. When they reconnect, the same attempt is restored if the module is still open.
Early submit
The module locks. The next instruction video opens and the student starts the next module on their own clock.
Shared cutoff
At three hours, the server submits saved answers and completes every unfinished attempt in the room.
